Dear Families,

I miss you and my students very much! I hope you are doing well and staying healthy. I am very excited to start our Zoom meetings this Monday, May 4 th from 1 to 2. We will have Zoom meetings available every Monday until the end of the school year at the scheduled time from 1-2. Also, you can now go to the homepage and click on google classroom for extension activities. These activities will be to reinforce the curriculum you are already doing.

To access Zoom meetings you need to download the Zoom application. Then, you choose join the meeting. This meeting on May 4th has a meeting ID. The meeting ID is 422-633-4578. The password is 350835. Every week you will find the weekly Zoom password in a letter in Google Classroom. To sign into Google Classroom follow these directions:

1. Type in student.mtuesd.org in the url. You are now on the homepage.

2. Under favorites click on Google Classroom

3. Click on use another account

4. Type your full school account which is last name first initial@mtuesd.org, then the password is

12345678. Again, this is all for Google Classroom.

5. Click continue

6. Click I’m a student

7. Click on join

8. Class Code is w4bl2vt

First Grade Learning

April 27-May 1

Reading:

    1. Read together daily
    2. Practice sight words daily
    3. UNIT 4-2 packet. Long e: e, ee, ea (If you haven’t yet, Pick this up from school on TUESDAY 11:00-12:00)

-2 times each, spelling sentences on the back

-triangle words, word boxes

-Read sound and blend chart with an adult

-math facts: subtraction (draw a picture and cross off, count down from greater number, count up from lesser number)

-SIPPS stories: #33, 34, 35: read each story at least three times in the week.

    1. Optional: Freckle ELA 10 min daily, you can go to library, skills practice, word study, decodables, sight words. If you do not have online access, read another book and practice sight words.

Writing:

    1. **Being a Writer workbook (it is blue and purple)- complete 2 pages weekly. **Turn this in weekly. Focus: Verb tense (look, looked: run, ran: wash, washed)

P. 27, 28, 29, 30

    1. Writing Journal (it is blue with yellow stars) Write a paragraph a week, with 3-5 sentences. Remember: Start each sentence with a capital letter. Start with a topic sentence, then give details about your topic. Use punctuation at the end of each sentence. Sound out words and use your little yellow dictionary. Draw a picture too. (When your journal is full, you may keep it forever! Then start writing in something new, buy a notebook or journal for yourself)

Math:

    1. **Math Workbook, Grade 1, Volume 2: ** Turn these in weekly.**

P. 157, 158 (5-7) Read the Family Letter p. 159, 160

P. 161 (columns: up and down), 162 (rows: sideways)

P. 163, 164: use page 163 to solve problems on 164 (Ex: 89+10= find 89 on the hundred chart, move over one column to add ten= 99)

P. 165, 166 (use the hundred chart to solve p. 165 EX:60-30= find 60 on the chart, move back 3 columns 50, 40, 30 = 30)

    1. Count by tens to 100 and backwards from 100 to 0. Can you count to 200 by tens?
    2. Count to 100 by 1’s AND by 5’s and 10’s, make it fun! Check out Jack Hartmann on YouTube for some fun counting and exercise!
    3. Optional: Freckle math 10 min. Daily if you have the internet. Or practice writing to 100.

Science: Mystery Science.

Do a project together: make Gak- cornstarch and water. Is it a solid or a liquid?

PE https://www.gonoodle.com/ Don’t forget to play outside! Run, walk, skip, jump, learn to jump-rope! Throw, catch, bounce a ball. Make a hopscotch with sight words in each box, read the words as you hop.

Fun ideas: play board games, dance, cook together, write stories or jokes, sing, make musical instruments, do puzzles.
